The Ministry of Education suspended classes at two schools following a massive fire that broke out at the Neelan Fihaara, a second-hand market in the capital city.
A message shared by the Ministry to the media noted that classes in Imaduddin School and Izuddin School had been suspended due to the fire. It further added that Imaduddin School is being used as a temporary shelter for the migrant workers of Male' City Council, who were displaced after the fire.
Billabong High International Schoo and Villa International High School also suspended their classes following the fire.
The blaze from the market had spread to two of the three accommodation blocks of Male' City Council present in the area. 166 migrant workers resided in these blocks, which had burnt down completely.
