A fire broke out in GDh. Fiyoari School around 1645hrs on Sunday.
Fiyoari Council member Mohamed Shahmath told 'One' that the Council received reports of the fire incident on Sunday evening. Shahmath said the fire broke out from an electricity distribution box at the school.
Shahmath added that the fire had spread greatly, making it impossible to enter the school and that Police and island residents are working together to put out the fire.
Speaking to 'One', Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) stated that they had received reports of the fire incident in Fiyoari School. MNDF added that a Fire and Rescue team is on the way to the island to help put out the fire.
Photos circulating on social media show the entire block in the school engulfed in flames.
