Maldives Police Service (MPS) has revealed that all those who had been arrested during the protest held by the opposition last night has been released from custody.

The opposition had been staging protests calling to free their Presidential candidate for 2023, Abdulla Yameen who is serving an 11 year jail term after the Criminal Court had found him guilty of corruption and money laundering charges related to the sale of resort development acquisition and leasing rights to Vaau Atoll Aarah.

Several protesters are arrested every night.

Police revealed to One Online today that a total of nine were arrested during the protest last night, six of whom were released last night itself. The remaining three were released on conditions set by the court, after being presented to the court for a remand hearing.

Opposition PPM had previously stated that they will continue these protests until President Yameen is free, adding that they will not allow a Presidential Election without President Yameen.
