The Elections Commision (EC) has decided to not allow the opportunity for retraction of candidacy for Parliamentary elections, starting from yesterday.

The Elections Commission took to twitter to state that the ballot papers had already been given for printing. As such, the tweet reiterated that name can no longer be retracted or altered.

The names of certain candidates for Parliamentary elections, have already been retracted. As such, the Labor Party candidate for Gemanafushi constituency, Mohamed Ilham has taken back his candidacy. The Elections Commision (EC) have accepted this retraction.

While two candidates had submitted their names for withdrawing from Parliamentary elections, the Elections Commision (EC) had accepted this submission.
