Maldives Media Council (MMC) on Thursday held discussions with Indian High Commission to arrange media trainings in India for Maldivian journalists.
The meeting was attended by MMC's President Ahmed Musthafa and members Mohamed Afrah, Moosa Rasheed, Arban Rasheed, and MMC's Secretary General Dr. Ibrahim Sameer. Indian High Commissioner Munu Mahawar and First Secretary Karan Yadav attended the meeting.
MMC released a press statement on Thursday after the meeting, stating that MMC held discussions with Indian High Commission to send Maldivian journalists for training in India as well as to bring experts to the Maldives to provide trainings for journalists.
MMC further said that the Council is also in discussions to provide scholarships for local journalists for short-term and long-term courses in India.
MMC said that Indian High Commissioner Munu Mahawar has ensured full support for MMC's initiative, as well as facilitate an agreement between MMC and India's Press Council to enable more opportunities for local journalists.
