Mohamed Nizam, 45, Manaaru, GDh. Thinadhoo has been remanded for two months by the Criminal Court, after being arrested in relation to an ongoing murder investigation.

Mohamed Nizam, 45, Manaaru, GDh. Thinadhoo and Bangladeshi citizen Mohamed Liton, 35, was reported as missing on December 28th.

While the fuel barge was found adrift near the airport, the Bangladeshi man is yet to be found.

A man had tweeted a photo with Nizam after spotting him at a cafe in Male'. He was arrested by the Police on Tuesday, inside a guesthouse in the city, after which they revealed that Nizam had been arrested in an ongoing murder investigation.

While Police presented Nizam to the Criminal Court for a remand hearing today, the court conducted the hearing behind closed doors at a request by the Police.

A media officer at the Criminal Court however confirmed to One Online that a remand of 60 days have been set for Nizam, though they added that no further details on the remand order could be shared at this time.
