Police have arrested the Maldivian who was reported missing after departing from Vilimale’ on a fuel barge, in relation to an ongoing murder investigation.

Mohamed Nizam, 45, Manaaru, GDh. Thinadhoo and Bangladeshi citizen Mohamed Liton, 35, was reported as missing on December 28th.

While the fuel barge was found adrift near the airport, the Bangladeshi man is yet to be found.

A message shared by the Police to the media on Tuesday noted that they had arrested Nizam while he was in a guesthouse, under a court order. They further added that he was arrested in connection to a murder investigation, though no further details were provided.
