PNC's vice president and Maavashu constituency MP Mohamed Saeed has been arrested from the PPM/PNC coalition's protest.

Police told 'One' on Tuesday night that a total of 22 people - 18 men and 4 women - were arrested from the protest in Male'. Police did not provide any further details.

PPM/PNC coalition has been staging a series of protests in Male' City since former president Abdulla Yameen was sentenced to 11 years in prison for money laundering and taking bribes for V. Aarah resort project.

The opposition coalition's spokesperson Heena Waleed told 'One' on Tuesday night that MP Saeed was arrested during the protest, and that no one else from the coalition leadership was taken into custody.

The opposition coalition began their protest in Maafannu tonight and continued the protest until Sosun Magu junction despite SO Police dispersing the crowd multiple times. Protesters were arrested from the Sosun Magu junction tonight.
