Abbas Adil Riza has been arrested for trying to incite an arson attack on the High Commission of India in the Maldives.

A statement shared by the Police with the media on Sunday morning revealed that they have arrested Abbas Adil Riza under a court order in a case that is currently being investigated. However, they did not reveal any further details surrounding the arrest.

In a tweet from his personal twitter account, Abbas had alleged that the arson attacks that took place in Addu City during the year 2012 were ordered by the Indian government. He had further stated that they had not taken revenge for those attacks, and to begin with the High Commission.

His arrest comes after all the political parties had condemned the statement, and the government had stated that this issue will be investigated as a serious issue.
