The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has submitted a case of corruption to the Prosecutor General's Office, against Male' City Council Secretary General and Former National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) CEO, Mujthaba Jaleel.

The Commission stated that they are seeking to charge Mujthaba after an investigation found that Mujthaba had ties with a company that had provided quotations for interior design works of a house that was being leased by NSPA for their work in 2015. Mujthaba had signed a letter back then requesting for permission from the Ministry of Finance, forwarding the Ministry the quotations.

The ACC is seeking to charge Mujthaba under Clause 1 (A) of the Prevention and Prohibition of Corruption Act which states that the Act is to prevent the offer and acceptance of bribery, the prevention and prohibition of attainment of undue advantage or the facilitation of attainment of undue advantage through use of influence from position, and the prevention of such.
