Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has awarded two key projects to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) to be carried out in Raa Atoll Inguraidhoo and Faafu Atoll Nilandhoo.
The projects were awarded to the company by the Planning Ministry during a ceremony held at the Ministry. The projects include Harbour Channel Breakwater Project in Inguraidhoo and the Shore Protection Project in Nilandhoo.
The project agreement was signed by Shahid Hussain Moosa, the Chief Operating Officer of MTCC and Fathimath Shaana Farooq, the Director General of Planning Ministry.
The Harbour Channel Breakwater Project in R. Inguraidhoo consist of 6744.50cbm of dredging the existing harbour basin, construction 145m of breakwater, reprofiling 150m of existing breakwater, and installation of harbour channel lights. The project will commence after an environment impact assessment. The project was awarded to MTCC for MVR 17.18 million, to be completed within 180 days.
The scope of Shore Protection Project in F. Nilandhoo consist of 503m of revetment, construction of 20m of groynes and 429m of geobag revetment. Following an environment impact assessment, the project will commence. MVR 29.90 million project was awarded to MTCC to be completed within 240 days.
