Nasheed kicks off MDP Primary campaign with vehicle parade

Speaker Mohamed Nasheed has kicked off his MDP primary campaign with a vehicle parade.

Nasheed's campaign was launched under 'Anni 2023' banner, with a vehicle parade at MPL and Raalhugandu area on Tuesday morning. Nasheed's campaign team also carried out membership form filling for supporters.

Deputy Speaker Eva Abdullah and Maafannu Uthuru constituency MP Imthiyaz Fahmy joined the campaign event together with MP Ilyas Labeeb, Hussein Firushan, and various other MPs and MDP members.

Nasheed has questioned the validity of MDP party registry in his letter to MDP Chairman, Fayyaz Ismail. Nasheed's letter read that the current registry will strip some 40,000 members of their voting rights, and it would result in an unfair election.

President Solih also started his MDP primary election campaign at Salt Cafe' and Restaurant on Monday night which was attended by a majority of MDP's congress.

MDP primary is scheduled to be held on 28 January 2023.
