President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has decided he will contest for the MDP primary to be held in January 2023.
President Solih held a discussion with MDP leadership on Monday night to formally begin his campaign for the MDP primary. MDP's national congress members attended the meeting with President Solih tonight.
Addu Meedhoo constituency MP, Rozaina Adam Tweeted about the meeting at Salt Cafe', stating that MDP's super majority was behind President Solih.
Her Tweet read that MDP's majority support President Solih and that he would win the party primary.
President Solih is yet to make an official announcement regarding contesting for the MDP primary although he has expressed his interest in the past.
The only candidate who has formally announced they will contest in the primary to be held on 28 January is Speaker Mohamed Nasheed.
