Six people have suffered serious injuries in the fire incident at Afcons accommodation block at K. Gulhifalhu.

MNDF said they received reports of the fire incident around 0031hrs and MNDF Fire and Rescue Service (FRS) was able to control the fire by 0152hrs. The accommodation block had burnt down completely, MNDF said.

Police said on Friday morning that 76 people suffered various injuries during the fire. Police said 63 people are receiving medical care at Tree Top while 13 are undergoing treatment at IGMH.

Police added that six people have suffered serious injuries during the fire, but did not specify any details.

MNDF has concluded the search operation following the fire incident. There are no fatalities, MNDF said.

'One' has come to know from some of the injured that the fire incident happened due to an electricity shortage at the accommodation block. A lot of people jumped to the ground from higher floors to avoid the fire, they told 'One'.
