Manta Air is seeking to acquire 12 additional seaplanes in time for a major expansion.
An announcement by the airline revealed that they are seeking 12 DHC-6 Twin Otters. The additional 12 DHC-6 Seaplane Twin Otters will double the carrier’s existing seaplane fleet and would also double its seaplane operational edge over national carrier Maldivian.
Expression of interest for the acquisition should be forwarded before 12:00 PM on January 15, 2023.
The marketing and Communication Manager at Manta Air, Mubeen Jaleel revealed to One Online that the airline has always had plans of expanding its network, to provide operations in various areas of the nation.
As such Mubeen noted that they have already ordered five planes to be delivered in 2023, and that the 12 additional planes are excluding those. He further noted that with the expanding flight, they will begin operations to new areas in the country.
Manta Air also operates 3 ATR 72-600 and 1 Beechcraft B1900D on regional flights within the Maldives with plans to add international flights in the future.
The airline currently operates to three regional airports and 30 resorts.
