Criminal Court sentences man for 20 years for blackmailing and raping a woman.

Criminal Court order stated that Yoosuf Husam, Sh. Milandhoo, had blackmailed a woman with threats of posting her photos on Facebook on 4 October 2019, and raped her.

Yoosuf Husam has been charged with sexual assault and threatening in this case.

Criminal Court stated that the rape charges against Husam have been proven beyond reasonable doubt. As such, he was given a 15 year sentence for rape.

However, considering the 3-years 2 months and y days spent in remand during the investigation, Husam will have an 11-year 9 month and 24 day sentence.

Additionally, Husam was also found guilty of threatening the woman, for which he was sentenced to 5 years but will spend 1 year 9 months and 24 days following the omission of remand period.

Judge Adam Mohamed presided over the case.
