The Ministry of Finance and Treasury has stated that the annual fees of vehicles and vessels will need to be paid to the councils of the islands where the vehicle or vessel is registered at, starting next year.
A circular signed by Minister Ibrahim Ameer released by the Ministry noted that the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) will stop collecting the fees starting December 31st, in order to facilitate the change.
It further added that starting in January, the payments will be accepted via a portal developed by the Transport Ministry, where the payments will be deposited to the accounts of the relevant council after they link the council accounts to the Bandeyri Pay portal.
The Finance Ministry has provided a grace period till the end of this month to all the councils, allowing them to link their accounts to Bandeyri Portal during this time. Those who fail to do so will have the fees deposited to their public bank accounts.
