Road Development Corporation has begun works on the second segment of the development of Ameenee Magu.

The Ministry of National Planning, Housing & Infrastructure contracted the work to RDC on June 3rd. The project was supposed to be finished within 210 days, valued at MVR 84 million.

The field work of this project commenced on August 30th, with the first segment of works developing the Ameenee Magu and Boduthakurufaanu Magu junction till Ameenee Magu and Irudheymaa Hingun junction. All the works of this segment with the exception of laying tar has been completed, with the road being opened.

However, work on the second segment of the project had been paused due to the lack of required materials. While works on this segment resumed yesterday, the road has been closed from Dharubaaruge until Kalaafaanu School.

RDC noted that laying tar will begin once the project progresses till Billabong International High School.
