B. Atoll Hospital begins dialysis service.

The dialysis centre was established in B. Atoll Hospital this year, with 3 beds in the specialised unit. B. Atoll Hospital said they have starting taking appointments for dialysis. The centre has two trained nurses, with more to be trained in the future, the Hospital said.

"We do not have any patients at the moment but we have the resources and the staff to start the dialysis service," B. Atoll Hospital Manager Mohamed Rasheed told 'One' on Sunday.

Rasheed said there are 18 dialysis patients in B. Atoll, out of which 4 patients will transfer to B. Atoll Hospital's dialysis centre. He added that as most patients live in Male' City, it would take some time for them to move back to the Atoll.

The dialysis centre will be officially opened in the first week of December.

Dialysis centre's across the atolls include R. Atoll Ungoofaaru Hospital centre, Addu Equitorial Hospital Centre, HDh. Kulhuduffushi centre, and GDh. Thinadhoo Abdul Samad Memorial Hospital centre. Dialysis centre will also be opened in Lh. Atoll Hospital in Naifaru soon.
