Two people suspected of being involved in a major counterfeit USD scheme have been arrested.

Police said on Thursday that a 24-year-old Maldivian woman and a 23-year-old Maldivian man were arrested on Wednesday night.

The pair were arrested under from Hulhumale' during a joint operation by Economic Crime Department and Police Intelligence, Police said.

Hulhumale' Magistrate Court ordered a 5-day remand for the two.

Police said the Economic Crime Department is investigating the case.
