Over 100,000 tourist arrivals recorded within first three weeks of November

Ministry of Tourism has revealed that over 100,000 tourist arrivals were recorded during the first three weeks of November.

Statistics released by the Ministry show that 1.45 million tourist arrivals have been recorded this year so far. While the tourism season is reaching its peak in the Maldives, the number of daily arrivals has been increasing as well.

The statistics show that by November 22nd, 107,452 tourist arrivals were recorded. It further shows that the most number of tourist arrivals were recorded during the month of October, with a total of 153,737 tourist arrivals. During the first three weeks of October, 105,753 tourist arrivals were recorded.

India still remains the top source market for tourist arrivals to the Maldives this year, with a market share of 14 percent while Russia remains second with 12.3 percent.

The Ministry predicts that the number of arrivals from Russia will increase as winter progresses.

The United Kingdom takes up the third spot with 10.9 percent, while the number of arrivals from China keeps increasing month by month.

The government aims to bring 1.6 million tourists by the end of the year. The Minister of Tourism, Dr. Abdulla Mausoom has previously stated that the goal would be achieved by the year ends.
