Criminal Court has ordered 5 people arrested during the joint counter terrorism operation by Police and MNDF to be remanded until the end of the trial.
Police and MNDf had arrested 10 people from Addu City and 2 people from Male' City and 2 people from K. Guraidhoo during their joint operation.
Police said on Sunday that 4 people aged 18, 33, 35, and 46 were given a 15-day remand while 3 people aged 19,27, and 28 were given a 30-day remand by the Court.
Additionally, 5 people aged 20, 27, 30, 35, and 37 were ordered to be kept in remand until the trial is over.
Police had previously said that the 14 people arrested during the operation were plotting a terror attack in the Maldives together with terrorist organisation IS. Police said 9 out of the 14 arrested have criminal records in terror cases.
