Maldives Customs Service (MCS) has seized MVR 15 million worth of drugs that were smuggled to Maldives via air from Brazil.
Customs said on Wednesday that a 29-year-old Brazilian woman who arrived in Maldives on November 9, was searched after she raised suspicions.
The woman tested positive to cocaine during the initial examinations, Customs said.
Customs said they seized drugs weighing 4.46kg with a street worth of MVR 15 million. The woman and the drugs have since been turned over to Police for further investigation.
Customs added that this is the 10th occasion where such drugs have been seized this year, with a combined weight of 17kg of drugs seized so far.
