State Electric Company (STELCO) has resumed power in Hulhumale Phase Ii with a temporary cable, following a power outage after the main cable was damaged during construction.

The company noted that repairing the main cable line would take longer than expected, hence a temporary line was being laid to resume power to the suburb.

A media officer at STELCO confirmed to One Online that the power outage was caused during digging at a construction site in Phase II.

Residents of the Hiyaa Flats were left with no electricity or water during the incident, many of whom had taken to social media to express their concern at the lack of contingency plans.
