The Ministry of Tourism has announced that the percentage of tourists to Maldives last month increased to 16.8 percent.

Speaking at a press conference, the Minister of Tourism, Ali Waheed said that he believes that this is a great predictor for the future.

The Minister reiterated that, starting from the beginning of this year till end of February, a total of 320,135 tourists have visited Maldives. He said that this amount is 11.7 percent greater than the number of tourists during last year’s February.  

The Minister said that the highest number of tourists arrived to Maldives from Europe last month, with 55 percent of all tourist arrivals.

He added that the second highest number of tourist arrivals were from the Asia Pacific region with a market share of 37 percent.

Minister Ali Waheed expressed his happiness that the percentage of American tourists to Maldives occupied 5.5 percentage kf the market share.

He said noted that the tourism industry is fast progressing.
