Over MVR 200,000 has been raised for the aid fund by Mission for Migrant Workers Maldives for victims of the devastating fire that broke out at M. Nirufehi last Wednesday.
The fund was created to provide essential aid to the victims of the fire. As such, the fund will be utilized to provide food and shelter to those affected by the fire.
They revealed via Twitter on Monday that while the fund closed donations, the fund had collected MVR 192 954.43 and USD 1078 in total. This totals up to MVR 209,576.
The fire saw 10 deaths, which has been marked as the most devastating fire in recent history. An additional of 34 people were left needing urgent assistance in the wake of the fire.
The mission noted that they have decided to provide USD 500 to the families of the deceased, and a total of MVR 3,855 to those requiring urgent assistance.
