Minister of Youth, Sports, and Community Empowerment, Ahmed Mahloof has stated that discussions are ongoing with the relevant authorities on what actions the government needs to take regarding the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) and its unpaid debts.

Minister Mahloof made the statement during today's Parliament session, in response to a question posed by Hulhudhoo Member of Parliament (MP), Ilyas Labeeb. He had quizzed the Minister on what actions are being taken about FAM and their unpaid dues to several organizations and players.

In response, Minister Mahloof stated that FAM should not have any unpaid debts due to a lack of funds from the Ministry. He further highlighted that associations like FAM are formed in a way that they are responsible for their own debts and accounts, adding that the Youth Ministry could not be held accountable or responsible for the association's debts.

He however did express the Ministry's concern over the unpaid debts. He stressed that discussions are ongoing how to solve the issue, and what actions the government needs to take regarding it.
