Maldives Police Service (MPS) and Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) have begun a counter-terrorism operation in Addu City.

MPS Tweeted that Police and MNDF's joint counter-terrorism operation will be carried out at sea as well. MPS did not publicised any further details but said they will update about the operation as it progresses.

'One' has come to know that MPS and MNDF are searching a residential house in Addu City Hithadhoo as part of the operation. The residence has previously been searched during counter-terrorism operations as well.
