President Solih urges authorities to draw up plans to relocate garages in Male'

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has urged all relevant agencies to draw a plan to relocate workshops and vehicle garages in residential areas.

President Solih made the remarks during his meeting with government agencies following the garage fire in Male'. During the meeting, President Solih called on the authorities to conduct swift investigations to determine the cause of the fire. He asked the authorities to ensure full transparency in disclosing information to the public.

President Solih also directed the relevant authorities to expedite their efforts to inspect accommodation arrangements of expat workers.

The garage fire in Male' City on Wednesday resulted in 11 fatalities. The authorities are still working on getting identification for one of the deceased.
