While a fire that broke out in a garage in Male' City has left 10 people dead in its wake, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that addressing the congestion in the city is key to preventing such tragic incidents in the future.
Speaking to the media on-site, President Solih stated that this was one of the most tragic incidents in recent history, one which amounts to great loss.
He highlighted that addressing the congestion in the city and moving such warehouses and workshops away from the city is key to preventing such incidents. He added that such works are underway, though noted that it is already too late to take action on it.
As such, the President stressed that certain areas in Thilafushi and Gulhifalhu are specified for such workshops and warehouses, adding that these projects are moving forward.
