Afcons has completed the survey on the damages to Vilimale' reef after the Self Elevating Platform (SEP) used for the Thilamale' Bridge project ran aground, and submitted the report to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
The SEP ran aground on 16 August 2022 at around 0245hrs. The platform was removed from the reef on 27 August 2022. EPA had commenced a survey on the damages on 1 September.
However, Afcons had stated that they will not accept the survey by EPA. As such, Afcons had conducted their own survey on damages. EPA however stated that they will not accept survey reports done by the perpetrators in such cases.
EPA's Director General, Ibrahim Naeem told 'One' that Afcons has completed their survey and submitted the report to EPA on Tuesday.
Naeem also dismissed reports of EPA being in discussion with Afcons, stating that EPA will not have any further discussions with Afcons regarding the matter.
"We are in the legal stages now. We cannot give an exact date when we will be able to take any action in this matter, but we will be announcing the measures we take," Naeem said.
Naeem had previously told 'One' that EPA will not hesitate to take necessary action against Afcons.
