Housing Development Corporation (HDC) stated on Monday that Football Association of Maldives (FAM)'s decision to give a plot of land to Apollo Holdings Pvt. Ltd to settle the MVR 13 million debt was unauthorised.
HDC had given FAM a 23,000sqft plot in 2018 to build the Football Training Academy in Hulhumale'.
HDC's media official Ali Mashar told 'One' on Monday that HDC was not authorised to give 5,000sqft from the Training Academy plot to Apollo as a debt settlement.
"HDC was not informed about this exchange and FAM was not authorised to give away land from the plot," Mashar said.
Mashar added that HDC is currently investigating the issue and noted that FAM has also requested some changes to the agreement between HDC and FAM regarding the Training Academy plot. Mashar did not specify details on the changes though.
Civil Court had stated on Wednesday that Apollo Holdings had filed a case against FAM on October 16 regarding the repayment of the MVR 13 million debt. However, during the course of the trial, Apollo had written to the Court stating that the company had reached a settlement with FAM outside Court.
As such, Civil Court order stated that both parties had reached an agreement to give Apollo Holdings 5,000sqft plot for 25 years without any additional charges.
