The carnival area in the capital city of Male' has flooded, following tidal swells this morning.
During high tide, the area frequently sees flooding due to tidal swells. The swells were actively continuing during the time of press as well.
Male' City Council's Media Officer Mariyam Shiuna told One Online that they had received reports of the tidal swells in the area this morning. She further added that a crew of the city council is now active in the area, highlighting that the council is now looking into the matter.
While the tidal swells continue flooding the number, there are a lot of vehicles parked in the area as well.
An official at the Maldives Meteorology noted that tidal swells are usually caused by strong winds, however, currently it's being caused be unusually large wave formations around the Maldivian waters. They added that tidal swells will occur during high tide, in areas where swells are frequently experienced.
MET has also issued a White Alert from Kaafu Atoll till Addu Atoll, with some islands expected to experience thunderstorms.
