President's Office has stated that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih is closely following the events around Abdulla Rasheed's death in police custody.
In a message sent to the media, Spokesperson Miuvaan said that President Solih has advised the Home Minister to closely follow up on the investigation into the case.
Home Minister Imran Abdulla had previously stated that if the investigation shows any neglect from police leading to Abdulla Rasheed's death, the Ministry will not hesitate to take decisive action against those involved.
National Integrity Commission (NIC) is the primary investigating agency in this case and will be communicating regarding the case. NIC has decided on an autopsy which Abdulla Rasheed's family has said they do not consent to.
