One Online has signed on as the Media Partner for the Golden Futsal Challenge 2023 - the biggest inter-island futsal event in the Maldives - to commence in on 4 February 2023.

One Online was also the Media Partner for the Golden Futsal Challenge 2022.

The Golden Futsal Challenge is a nation-wide initiative by Golden Futsal Association, and has been held successfully 6 times in the past. The tournament is formatted to include an Atoll, Zone, and a final round of matches. With participation from across all atolls, the Golden Futsal Challenge has been the winning stage for all Maldivian Futsal champions.

At signing ceremony held at 'One' office on Wednesday, Admin and Marketing Manager Hashma Yoosuf (Hash) signed on behalf of One Online while Golden Futsal Association's President, Rilwan Moosa signed on behalf of the Association.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hash said that it is a privilege to be the Media Partner for the Golden Futsal Challenge, and that 'One' will strive to bring an exciting coverage of the tournament to the readers.

Rilwan spoke about the coverage by 'One' for the Golden Futsal Challenge 2022, adding that the Association is confident the Media Partner will do an excellent coverage of the tournament.

"We chose 'One' as our Media Partner because they did an excellent job covering the former tournament. We thank 'One' for the coverage. We have had discussions with 'One' on how to improve the coverage for the upcoming tournament. We are confident that 'One' can cover the tournament as per our expectations. So we are hopeful and looking forward to a great coverage for the upcoming tournament," Rilwan said.

The Golden Futsal Challenge 2022 saw a participation of 91 teams from across Maldives who competed in 177 matches. As such, Golden Futsal Challenge 2023 is expected to receive bigger support from the atolls next year.

Submissions are open for participation until 15 November - submissions were first opened for the island councils and the management of the former teams. Golden Futsal Association's president, Rilwan Moosa told 'One' on Wednesday that submissions will be open for all islands after 15 November to sign up additional teams.

The Golden Futsal Challenge has been deemed the most successful format for atoll and island representation in a tournament so far. Golden Futsal Association has also made some changes to the tournament format for next year.

Th. Thimarafushi won the champions of the Golden Futsal Challenge 2022 after beating K. Gaafaru. Thimarafushi also took the cup in 2019 and 2016 as well.
