The State has responded to former president Yameen Abdul Qayyoom, stating that the Government does not need to make basic necessity pledges for the upcoming term.

During his visit to HA. Ihavandhoo, former president Yameen had stated that under his tenure, the island's fishermen would have access to diesel and ice and that the harbour will be repaired.

President's Spokesperson, Miuvaan Mohamed, responded to Yameen's claims during a press conference, stating that everything Yameen claimed during his trip are things that the current administration has already planned for Ihavandhoo.

"Yameen does not know that Ihavandhoo has a harbour and an ice plant because he has never been proactive in island development. All the basic necessities required by the islands will be fulfilled before the end of this current administration. We do not have any additional pledges that need to be made for basic necessities," Miuvaan said.

Miuvaan added that the public will no longer believe in Yameen's pledges.
