Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has revealed that works are underway to repair and lease the Mechanical Parking Systems in Hulhumale' City, which has remained unused since their installation.
Former President Abdulla Yameen introduced the systems as part of an ongoing effort to find a solution to parking issues in the city. Some of the systems are yet to be completely finished with the installation works.
HDC began works on repairing the old systems, which had succumbed to rust and various damages such as loose chains after being left unused for a while.
An official at the corporation revealed that they are gearing up to finish the renovation works and to start leasing the parking systems starting next week. However, no details of the regulation for lease were disclosed by the official.
A total of nine parking systems are to be placed in Hulhumale', each with a capacity of about 30 - 35 cars with a total of 315 slots across all systems.
