Transport Ministry has decided to appeal Civil Court's order for a temporary ban on carrying out cancellation of unlawful vehicle registrations.
Transport Ministry's official told 'One' that the Ministry has sent the appeal to Attorney General (AG)'s Office.
Transport Ministry had cancelled nearly 200 vehicle registrations citing unlawful registrations, leading to 7 vehicle owners filing a case in Civil Court stating that about 87 vehicle registrations were cancelled without just cause.
Civil Court issued a temporary order on Monday, stating that sudden registration cancellations will cause damages to vehicle owners as they are unable to use their vehicles due to the registration cancellation and while the case is ongoing. As such, Civil Court ordered Transport Ministry to put the cancellations on hold.
