Over 35,000 applications have been submitted for land plots and flats under the ‘Binveriyaa’ and ‘Gedhoruveriyaa’ schemes.

The government opened applications for the schemes on June 26, through their newly introduced ‘Gedhoruverin’ portal. The deadline to submit applications expired at 12:00pm last night.

The government had decided to give out 5,000 plots of land for Male' residents, and 4,000 housing units to those who had been living in Male' for over 15 years.

State Minister at the Housing Ministry, Akram Kamaluddin had tweeted the total number of applications received through the portal. As such, most of the applications were for the land plots under 'Binveriyaa' scheme with a total of 15,164 applications. 14،489 people had submitted applications for three room housing units while 6،208 people had submitted for two room apartments. With that, the total number of applications submitted were at 35،861.

The smallest land plots issued is for individual applicants and will measure 1,250 sqft. The size can be increased based on the number of joint applicants, with 400 sqft being added to each joint applicant. For applications with seven or more participants, the land plot can be increased up to 4,000 sqft.
