Maldives Police Service (MPS) has revealed that Mohamed Azhan had decomposed to bones when they were discovered two weeks into his disappearance.
During a Press Conference held at Iskandar Koshi regarding three ongoing cases, Chief Superintendent of Police Mohamed Bashir said that when the body was discovered, it was in a state of deep decomposition.
Bashir further added that they are aware that the body was there for a while, though an exact date of death is still hard to pinpoint.
He further added that DNA tests had confirmed that the bones were of Azhan, noting that there were no signs of any serious injuries. He also revealed that the permanent results of the autopsy will be received in about two months.
Bashir further highlighted that the investigation did not find any evidence of a murder. He also added that even though several sources claim that there was a financial motive behind his death, these were merely just rumors with no truth to them.
Azhan was reported as missing on September 19th, and his body was found on October 2nd.
