Malaysia's Election Commission (EC) is set to hold a special meeting on 20 October to discuss and set dates for Malaysia's 15th general election as well as the state-by-state election for Bugaya in Sabah.
Bernama reported that EC Secretary Ikmalrudin Ishak has said the meeting will be chaired by the commission's Chairman Abdul Ghani Salleh and will be held at Menara SPR, Putrajaya.
"EC chairman will chair the meeting on the important dates pertaining to the GE15 and Bugaya by-election, such as the writ of election, dates of nomination and polling, electoral roll to be used and other preparations for the two elections," Ikmalrudin said in a statement on Tuesday, Bernama reported.
EC will also hold a press conference after the meeting.
This past Monday, Malaysia's Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced the dissolution of the parliament with the Sultan's consent.
"With this announcement, the mandate is returned to the people," Sabri had said in a televised address.
