The Ministry of Tourism has invited major international hotel chains to invest in the Maldives.
In an interview with One Online, Tourism Minister Mausoom Abdulla stated that in order to further develop the Maldivian hospitality industry, even more, international airlines and hotel chains need to be established in the country.
As such, he revealed that they have extended invitations to major hotel brands to invest in the Maldives and that they are currently deliberating on the matter.
One can confirm that a Korean company and a US company have been approached to invest in the Maldives.
The Minister further added that the strengthening bilateral ties between the Maldives and other countries are also an advantage for the tourism sector. He also highlighted that the changes in the world need to be reflected in the industry as well.
Minister further stated that the popularity of the Maldives as a holiday destination can continue in the future as well, adding that the 'exclusive' holiday experience can be found in the Maldives.
