First Lady Fazna Ahmed has stated that everyone must work collectively to achieve wholesome mental well-being.

She made the remarks on Monday while speaking at the inauguration of the Mental Health Centre at Hulhumale' Hospital.

First Lady stated that she hopes all hospital personnel recognise that mental health is the responsibility of the entire hospital and not the sole responsibility of one department. She also advised the hospital staff t ensure that the hospital environment is kind and caring, and that patients are well taken care of.

In her remarks, the First Lady also reflected on her recent trip to Bahrain, speaking about the importance of cross-departmental collaboration to ensure patient's mental health is cared for properly. She stated that Hulhumale' Hospital could draw inspiration from King Hamad University Hospital in Bahrain.

The new Mental Health Centre at Hulhumale' Hospital was developed as part of the current administration's initiative to prioritise and advance mental health through national policies. The Centre will provide a variety of services including assessment for diagnosis, counselling services, and cognitive and dialectical behavioural therapy. The new Centre will also collaborate with Cadabams Hospital, Bangalore, India, to provide online consultations for child development and other specialist services.

During the ceremony, First Lady Fazna Ahmed and Vice President Faisal Naseem - who was also in attendance at the ceremony - were presented with commemorative plaques on behalf of Cadabams Group, India.
