A Maldivian man has been arrested from an island in the central-west atolls for sexually assaulting a boy.

Maldives Police Service (MPS) confirmed to One Online that they had received reports of sexual assault on a 14-year-old boy. They noted that the report was received on October 05th.

Police further added that a 49-year-old man was arrested the next day under a court order, and that he has been ordered to be detained until the end of trial.

Police is investigating the case further.
