Prosecutor General (PG)'s Office has stated that 214 cases were filed with PGO in September, of which a majority were drug and theft related cases.

According to statistics published by PG Office, out of the 214 cases filed in September, 70 cases had been sent back for further clarifications and 60 cases were accepted.

PG Office revealed that they received 61 cases of drug use, 6 cases of drug trafficking, 3 cases of drug dealing, and 2 cases of drug peddling were sent to court. Additionally, 20 cases of theft and 14 cases of break-ins were also sent to court.

Criminal Court had 447 hearings, while Hulhumale' Magistrate Court had 80 hearings and Drug Court had 186 hearings, PG Office said. While 354 hearings at Criminal Courts were cancelled, 77 cases in Hulhumale' Magistrate Court and 74 cases at Drug Court were also cancelled, according to PG Office.

PG Office statistics also showed that Maldives Police Service (MPS) had sent 202 cases to PG while Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) sent 10 cases and Human Rights Commission of Maldives (HRCM) sent 2 cases to PG.
