Malé City Mayor, Dr. Mohamed Muiz has been expressed concern over the delays in approving the Malé land-use plan.
Speaking to the press on Sunday, Mayor Muiz stated that the land-use plan - which has been revised thrice - is yet to be approved by the Planning Ministry.
He went on to state that the administration is not supportive to the City Council in some aspects. As such, Mayor Muiz noted the delays from Planning Ministry in approving the land-use plan.
“We submitted the revised land-use plan last November. It’s October now, and we are still waiting for approval,” Mayor Muiz said.
He added that the City Council’s work is being affected due to the delays.
As per the Constitution, barring any revisions, land-use plans should be approved within three months of submission.
