Adam Wiyam, a 19-year-old from Alifu Alifu Atoll Thoddoo has passed away today while being treated for Dengue fever.
A member of his family revealed to One Online that he had been sick with Dengue Fever for a while and that he had been getting treatment at ADK Hospital, where he passed away this morning.
They added that WIyam is a Thalassemia Beta carrier and that the fever had caused liver failure.
While a 19-year-old has passed away today, an 8-year-old child also passed away from the same fever yesterday.
Pediatrician Dr Ahmed Faisal noted that the riskiest stage of dengue fever is when the fever itself subsides. This causes weakness, low blood pressure, and often blood present in vomit and stool.
He urged to seek medical attention immediately if such a thing occurs.
