The government of India has donated 24 vehicles to Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF).

The donation was officially announced previously, during an official visit to India by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on an invitation extended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The vehicles were handed over during a special ceremony held at the Defense Ministry on Monday by the Foreign Secretary of India Vinay Mohan Kwatra, and were received by Defense Minister Mariya Ahmed Didi.

During the ceremony, Minister Mariya had thanked the Indian government for the close ties that the country maintains with the Maldives and its people.

The Ministry further added that India has always helped in strengthening the capacity of MNDF. As such, the coountry had previously donated vehicles to the MNDF as well.
