Deputy leader of Jumhooree Party (JP) and Minister of Environment, Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hassan has said that he will defend President Solih’s government no matter what.
The Minister took to twitter to make this statement and responded to claims made by interim leader of opposition party, the People’s National Congress (PNC). The party’s interim leader and the MP for Fonadhoo constituency Abdul Raheem Abdulla had said that the government coalition no longer exists. Dr. Hussain responded to these claims and said that the government coalition will not fall apart. He added that any true member of Jumhooree Party will not vote for the coalition between PNC and Progressive Party of Maldives named, the “Progressive National Coalition”.
While the Minister of Environment has said that JP members will not vote for the Progressive National Coalition, leader of JP, Qasim Ibrahim took a stance on the matter at a party campaign event. Qasim spoke regarding the matter at the campaign event of Parliamentary hopeful for Henveiru-North constituency, Alhan Fahmy. He and said that JP members will vote for Progressive National Coalition candidates in Parliamentary elections, provided that no member of JP is running in that constituency.
