President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Monday inaugurated the installation of the power generation, water, and sewerage networks in HDh. Finey.
Speaking at the ceremony held to inaugurate the services, President Solih said that Finey will see more progress now that the basic infrastructure has been established in the island.
He added that the new infrastructure and services will contribute to making Finey a more liveable island. President Solih noted the positive changes brought to the island and stated that he hopes the development will enrich the lives of the residents.
President Solih noted the new opportunities that would open up for Finey residents as the HDh. Hanimaadhoo Airport is in close proximity, also noting the recent establishment of the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) services.
President Solih also spoke on the challenges the residents have faced over the years, noting the Administrations efforts to improve the conditions in the island. To this effect, President Solih stated that the Administration would work on the refurbishment of the island harbour next.
President Solih also toured the new power house and its administrative building after the inauguration of the water and sewerage service and the power generation network.
Finey's old powerhouse was constructed near the residential area over 18-years ago, which was has led to noise and air pollution complaint from the residents. The new powerhouse in Finey has a 570 kilowatt generator with a new power generation network.
FENAKA corporation manages the water and sewerage services in the island.
